Airlink Ambulance offers two types of medical escort services:
Commercial Stretcher on International Carriers
This service is for patients not in need of critical care measures, but who need to travel in a horizontal position, with medical equipment and with careful monitoring by qualified medical staff. The service starts wherever the patient needs it to start (from home or hospital) and ends wherever the patient needs it to end. These transports are less expensive than a dedicated air ambulance and are used frequently for very long transports, such as transatlantic or transpacific flights. AirLink Ambulance makes all of the necessary arrangements with the airline* and provides air medical staff and equipment. We quote one all-inclusive price for the entire service.
Medical Escort
This service is for patients who can travel in a seated position and are sufficiently mobile to move with reasonable help from a wheelchair onto an airplane. They are medically stable and their medical needs are typically limited to oxygen management, intravenous/oral medicine, physical help getting around, and/or logistical support due to mental disorientation. The service starts wherever the patient needs it to start (from home or hospital) and ends wherever the patient needs it to end.
AirLink Ambulance provides worldwide medical escort service. Our medical staff picks the patient up at home or meets at the airport and accompanies the patient on a commercial flight. Our medical staff will deliver the patient to the destination selected by the patient providing the necessary medical support along the way.
AirLink Ambulance makes all the necessary arrangements with the airline and provides medical staff, oxygen, and any other equipment and medicines necessary for the Medical Escort. We quote one all-inclusive price for the entire service.
Prior to any transfer through AirLink Ambulance, our medical director will review the patient’s medical history and condition with the attending physician to assure that the medical transport alternative selected is adequate and that proper medical equipment, medicines, and personnel are involved and available.
* Not all airlines allow stretcher service and those who do limit this option to certain routes and aircraft.
